Lectio Continuum

“Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all of you, for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.” (Acts 20:26)

In the early church a method of Bible teaching and preaching was often employed called Lectio Continuum. This was a pattern of reading an entire book or entire books of the Bible and expounding passages of Scripture in an ongoing way. The preachers who made this their practice were convinced that God had inspired a perfect text of Scripture and that this written text represented his thoughts exactly. In light of this, these preachers humbly submitted themselves to the text of Scripture in this way so that the act of preaching itself would be an act of worship.

Does your regular routine reflect your worship of God? What are you doing to bring yourself more in line with the will of God as revealed in his word?
