Pride and the Fall

“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” (Prov. 16:18)

This is a good warning from Proverbs to avoid the sin of pride and escape the dangers that it entails. Those of us who have battled with the sin of pride may also find humor in benefit from this reality check posted by Justin Talyor.

  1. Here’s an interesting (& fun/ny) illustration of the principle you note:

Andy’s blog has a YouTube video embedded, but I’ve linked to his post with his brief observation about it instead of the direct YouTube URL.

(Re-reading your post, perhaps you intended to link the same video? At least in my browser it doesn’t show, but since you refer to Justin Taylor (who frequently links Andy’s blog), I’d guess you might have so intended?)

  2. Oh, I see; you have a link to Justin’s site; the style def for the link is so subtle that I didn’t even see it the first time. The color of the link text is very close to your regular text.

And yes, it’s the same video.

      Thanks!
You are not the first person to mention that problem with the link color. I wish I knew how to change the font color for the links but I haven’t figured that out yet. I am the most low-tech blogger out there!

  3. Two ways to do that: select a different theme (in your WordPress Dashboard); or, edit the CSS style sheet for the theme you have (perhaps there is a techie in your church who might help with that? It can be done from within the Dashboard, but you have to know how to edit the xml code in the style sheet).

    • Ok, now that I know that it can be done without changing the whole theme I will look into that route. Maybe this conversation will generate a sympathetic response from techie who reads this blog in the local area:)
