I am preparing to teach this evening on the biblical foundations and historical significance of the practice of family worship. Over the last seven years that we have been doing family worship in our home, I have also come to appreciate the practical blessing and long term impact of it as well. J. A. Alexander expresses my own observations well:
“The daily regular and solemn reading of God’s holy Word by a parent before his children is one of the most powerful agencies of a Christian life. We are prone to undervalue this cause. It is a constant dripping, but it wears its mark into the rock.” – Thoughts on Family Worship, p. 35.
